Boom Festival - 11 a 18 Agosto de 2008 (Idanha-a-Nova)

O Boom começou em 1997 como um evento de longa duração dedicado à música trance. O objectivo era dar a conhecer ao público mundial o movimento português e vice-versa. Em 1998, na segunda edição, o conceito e intercâmbio fortaleceram-se, mas foi em 2000 que tudo mudou.

Na terceira edição, o Boom Festival, tornou-se um evento aglutinador de correntes de pensamento ligadas a novos paradigmas, como por exemplo, a arte visionária, a teoria das cordas, abduções e permacultura (sistema de criação de habitats humanos em harmonia com a natureza). Dessa forma, foi aberta uma área de conferências e workshops que complementou as artes que se centravam no entretenimento (como música, video-arte, performances ou decoração).
Em 2002 foram recolhidos os frutos da mudança de perspectiva do Boom: apareceu um novo público e, entre 2000 e 2002, vários escritores, cientistas, terapeutas, artistas plásticos e ecologistas começaram a demonstrar interesse em fazer parte do alinhamento do festival e dar o seu input. Assim, o que era área de conferências passou a chamar-se «Liminal Village», que é hoje um centro de conhecimento, onde há cinema, conferências, workshops, galerias de arte, etc.
Em 2004, e em 2006, a Boom Festival Team entrou na rota da sensibilização ecológica -, como meio de interligação entre artes e formas de expressão – que é a força motriz essencial do Boom desde o seu início.

Actualmente o festival é mais do que entretenimento. A organização quer fazer um evento que dê soluções às pessoas para o seu quotidiano, mostrando-lhes, por exemplo, algumas práticas de sustentabilidade ecológica.

Hello to all visionary beings,

A super good Spring for all the beings on the north hemisphere and a fantastic Autumn for all the ones at the south hemisphere. For all of you in the middle of the Earth (better know as the equator regions) have a great Monsoon, Rainy season or dry season! We are One!

Thanks so much for all the super positive resonances regarding the “new” Boom website (launched on Dec. 06). We are so happy that many of you have contributed by inputting Boom impressions and cultural growth. That’s the intent of the site - to stimulate a little bit your mental pods so that the reality borders can be cracked open.

News news, nice news to change the common setting of daily nasty media influx.

Sustainable Visions:
Here at the Boom realms we are preparing our next evolutionary step. Over the wintertime our visions have matured into what we fell is a sustainable and resourceful adventure.
In collaboration with ecocenter IPEC from Brasil (check: www.ecocentro.org) we have started to produce small scale events, workshops, talks and vivencial gatherings - specifically dedicated to eco-alphabetisation, ecologic re-education and passing on of meaningful information.
With the vision of sharing knowledge, understandings and technologies that empower you to be and act in a sustainable way.
Aiming to the focus of having the joy of loving life and enjoy to consciously party into the future.

End of May sees the start of this adventure with the launch of a 10 days course in Permaculture - Design and Consultancy.
Dedicated to the present un-sustainable Portuguese reality we hope to awake and empower Portuguese speaking people to create sustainable environment movements. This course will be lectured in Portuguese and at a farmland in Portugal mainland. For more details please check www.sustentavel.org

Re-cycle Boom:
Meanwhile at the Boom festival grounds we are now undergoing the final analysis tests to evaluate the efficiency of the recycling shower gray water and humanure composting toilets systems.
We are happy to announce that from Boom 06, about 1.6 million litters of shower gray water have been ecologically re-cycled by bacteria and plants. Soon this precious and now clean water will be used for agricultural purposes at the land of the Boom.
As for the ”human donation” that you have left at the Boom dry toilets system we are proud to announce that we are now on the final phase to transform it into 10 tonnes of beautiful and life bursting humus. This humus will be used in 2008 to create the Boom gardens.

When is the next Boom?
Once again the Big question arises! And with it the gossips flow in ever increasing spirals
So to make things clear for everyone we must state once again: The next Boom festival will be in August 2008. Date yet to be announced.
This year (2007) we will NOT be making Boom!

Boom Book and DVD 2006:
Both these projects are flowing at a steady pace. The plan at the moment (hopefully all the energies will flow) is to release the Boom Book by early summer and the Boom 06 DVD by late summer. Sometime in between July and September.
Due to the amount of work and human resource coordination to make these projects happen – we can’t as of yet tell you exact release dates.

But they are coming... and they are looking better and better by the day.

Sinergia:
Last but not least… this year in the end of July from the 27th to the 30th, part of the Boom team (Omium Prods.) will be entering once again in synergy with Quest4Goa (our partners for the AfterBoom, remember?). With the aim to promote a big party called Sinergia.
This joint project essentially is a 3 day and night party in one of the most idyllic locations we can find to party in the hot Portuguese summer.  A lush forest by a riverside.

Olá pessoal alegre! 
O Festival Sinergia é imperdível!  Em primeiro lugar porque tenho uma hístoria associada ao Sinergia do ano passado, eu e o grande Urbino, umas 5 horas de caminhada desde o porto de Aveiro a praia da Vagueira, onde se realizou o festival... Mochila as costas e anda que não és cambado! Mesmo antes do festival já tinha valido a pena o esforço da caminhada! De segundo pelo pessoal que vai andar por lá, pelos dias bem passados... Em terceiro pelo lugar onde se realiza o Sinergia deste ano, só ouço maravilhas daquele espaço! E pela música...

Depois do Sinergia, não sei, faço intenções de ir a algum festival diferente, como o Músicas do Mundo, de música alternativa... 
Mas ainda nem sei... as tantas acabo por ir bater ao freedom... ou a lado nenhum
