The Big Bang Machine

Professor Brian Cox visits Geneva to take a look around Cern's Large Hadron Collider before this vast, 27km long machine is sealed-off and the experiment to create the simulation of a black hole begins.
When it's up and running, it will be capable of creating the conditions that existed just a billionth of a second after the Big Bang. Brian joins the scientists who hope that the LHC will change our understanding of the early universe and solve some of its mysteries.

Bom vídeo IonError! Eu sinceramente nunca acreditei mt nisto da gripe das aves e da gripe dos porcos, pq eu nunca vi nada com os meus próprios olhos. Aliás a gripe das aves foi supostamente tão perigosa como esta dos porcos, e no entanto não vi tantos cuidados, e muito menos, vi vítimas contaminadas com esse tipo de gripe, mas quanto a gripes comuns, já vi muitas, e muitas dessas vítimas em estados graves. Eu falei com um médico que disse, que se recebe alguma pessoa no consultório com gripe, para ele é gripe a, que é tudo gripe a, é uma estripe de uma gripe, como qualquer outra doença, e ele tb disse que essa história do tamiflu é bom para as empresas que o produzem, pq pode-se tratar esta gripe como se trata outras, com um bocado mais de atenção, mas não chega a ser mortal, a não ser que não seja acompanhada devidamente como qualquer outra gripe, que pode gerar em pneumonias. E depois de ver o vídeo, não podia estar mais convicto quanto ao que disse, os interesses gerados por detrás do tal sr. ronald não sei das quantos, só veio encher os bolsos, e dar tema para os telejornais, revistas, e diários. Enfim.. é o mundo em que vivemos, uma vergonha!

CERN Physicist Warns About Uranium Shortage

"Uranium mines provide us with 40,000 tons of uranium each year. Sounds like that ought to be enough for anyone, but it comes up about 25,000 tons short of what we consume yearly in our nuclear power plants. The difference is made up by stockpiles, reprocessed fuel and re-enriched uranium — which should be completely used up by 2013. And the problem with just opening more uranium mines is that nobody really knows where to go for the next big uranium lode. Dr. Michael Dittmar has been warning us for some time about the coming shortage (PDF) and has recently uploaded a four-part comprehensive report on the future of nuclear energy and how socioeconomic change is exacerbating the effect this coming shortage will have on our power consumption. Although not quite on par with zombie apocalypse, Dr. Dittmar's final conclusions paint a dire picture, stating that options like large-scale commercial fission breeder reactors are not an option by 2013 and 'no matter how far into the future we may look, nuclear fusion as an energy source is even less probable than large-scale breeder reactors, for the accumulated knowledge on this subject is already sufficient to say that commercial fusion power will never become a reality."
